Title: Mental Health Associate

 

Reports to: Children’s Mental Health Program Director or Service Coordinator

 

Pay Grade:  6

 

JOB SUMMARY: Teaches skills to children experiencing severe emotional disturbance and provides support for adapting to home, school and community environments.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.      Ability to provide skill-training indicated in individual plans in partnership with families and other team members.

2.      Has strong communication skills with diverse populations including families, team members, and the public.

3.      Contributes to the professional reputation of the agency.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or two years of college or equivalent experience required.  Must be 18 years or older.  Must have experience working with youth.  Physical abilities match individual needs of the customer.  First Aid and CPR certification required. Valid Alaska State Driver’s license, liability insurance and own reliable vehicle is necessary.

1.      Implements plan and evaluates progress in partnership with families and other team members. (KSA)

 

Function: Implements plan in partnership with families and other team members

 

Standards:

a)      Is aware of and adheres to all elements of the individual service plan.

 

b)      Accesses resources necessary to implement the individual service plan.

 

c)      Implements plan in a manner sensitive to the individual, family and community.

 

d)     Makes adaptations according to specific developmental, mental health and medical needs.

 

e)      Maintains mutually respectful boundaries with families.

 

f)       Interacts with other service providers in a professional manner.

 

 

2.      Has strong written/oral communication skills with diverse populations including; families, team members and the public (KSA)

 

Function:  Communicates with families in a positive manner.

 

Standards:

a)      Seeks regular feedback from families regarding the effectiveness of services.

 

b)      Adapts to communication styles of individuals from different cultural backgrounds.

 

c)      Is dependable and follows through on commitments.

 

Function:  Written communication (progress notes, incident reports) is clear concise and timely.

 

Standards:

a)      Progress notes are completed daily, legible, meet Medicaid regulation standards and submitted on time.

 

b)     Incident reports are completed as needed and submitted as soon as possible to supervisor.


 

3.  Contributes to the professional reputation of the agency.

 

Function:  Represents the agency in a professional manner.

     

      Standards:          

a)      Is aware of adheres to interagency agreements.

 

b)      Maintains neat, professional appearance and work area.

 

Function:  Adheres to all agency policies and procedures.

 

      Standards:

a)      Locates and refers to agency policy/procedure manual.

 

b)      Asks for clarification regarding policies/procedures from supervisor.

 

Function:  Adheres to all State and Federal laws and regulations

 

Standards:

a)      Locates and refers to applicable laws/regulations.
