Our Stellar Staff for February is Jan Lemire! Jan makes sure everything runs smoothly in the Craig office. She likes helping staff and customers and figuring out innovative ways to solve problems that come up.  

“Making things work out, and just making everybody happy,” she says. “I still love coming to work every day – never know what’s going to come up!”

The biggest challenge she can remember is when Community Connections moved to a new building in Craig back in 2010. Staff had to take all furniture and desks down a set of stairs in the old building, since the elevator wasn’t working. They built a ramp on part of the stairway, which ended up working pretty well!

Jan left California on her motorcycle in 1976 to come up to southeast Alaska. She’s been here ever since, working at various places like the Alaska State Troopers, the Craig police department, Taquan, and Viking Lumber, until she found Community Connections in 2001.

Jan enjoys hunting, fishing for halibut, and riding her motorcycle, an 883 Harley-Davidson.

We feature staff as part of our monthly Stellar Staff Spotlight. The spotlight rotates between programs (Children’s Mental Health, Early Learning, and Senior & Disability Services), and between Ketchikan and Prince of Wales, with a focus on recognizing direct service staff.
