This April, we’re excited to recognize Dev Carroll as our Stellar Staff! Dev joined Community Connections in July 2024 after a family member encouraged her to apply as a way to gain hands-on experience while pursuing her psychology degree. A decision she says she has never regretted and enjoys very much.

A part of her position she thoroughly enjoys is watching how kids’ minds come alive during problem-solving activities and experiencing the joy that comes from working closely with families. Seeing how her efforts positively impact quality of life and foster a sense of belonging motivates her every day and reminds her to find hope in the small moments.

Her supervisor says, “Dev works well with not only with staffing, but with parents and community partners to make sure the Craig program is running smooth and efficient. She has gained such confidence in herself and embodies our core values in every aspect of her work.”

Driven by passion and positive energy, Dev is deeply invested in the people she supports. When the emotional weight of the work becomes challenging, she prioritizes self-care with relaxing nights that include a face mask, journaling, and her favorite movie.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, especially playing games and participating in subsistence activities like berry picking and beach seining. She also loves reading, writing, playing with her dog, and diving into psychology topics, with a recent interest in sleep behaviors. Originally born in California and raised in Colorado, she moved to Alaska in December 2023 for a fresh start.
