Adam was born in Cortland, NY, raised a mile from a ski area in Virgil, NY. He moved from that ski area to ski area across the country and ended up in South Central Alaska. He decided to go to college at 35 and met someone from Ketchikan while studying at George Fox University in Newberg, OR. After returning to South Central Alaska, they decided to relocate to Ketchikan.
While looking for a job, a friend of his told him about a position at Community Connections. He had taught adaptive skiing for many years and had a lot of experience in management positions, so it seemed like a good fit. He applied in 2020 and here he is five years later.
Adam says, “My favorite part of the job is the innovation. Forming new ideas for how to improve personal efficacy, creating more opportunities for social interaction and ways to encourage self-expression take a balance of imagination practical knowledge research and innovation that continues to keep my mind and heart engaged and interested.”
The biggest challenge that he faces is getting his notes done in a timely manner, but he is working on this with the help of his supervisor. 😊
Adam’s supervisor, Sasha, says, “Adam always works to help our customers achieve more and become more independent. He always works from his heart and wants what’s best for the customers he works with. He is also supportive of the other staff and is there when they need him. He has a great ability to think and work outside the box and empower our customers.”
In his free time, Adam enjoys biking, crafting, and swimming with his kids, kayaking, book clubs, playing Dungeons and Dragons, skiing and sitting on the bench throwing a ball for his dog, Chapter.
Thank you, Adam, for your dedication to Community Connections and the customers we serve!
