Our Stellar Staff member for April is a longtime Community Connections employee whose supervisor describes as a “rock star.”
Amy Guinn, a SDS Support Specialist III, grew up in Ketchikan and first started with Community Connections in 2006. After some breaks here and there, she has been back with us full-time for close to three years.
“I love providing support, and I love seeing people live a full life and reach their potential,” Amy said recently. “And I like being a part of that and being able to interact and make someone’s day better.”
Sharyl Yeisley, OARS Manager and Amy’s supervisor, said that Amy “goes above and beyond” when communicating with clients and their families so their voices aren’t lost.
“The other thing I think that stands out with Amy is that she has really good insight. She can read people well,” Yeisley said. “It helps facilitate even some of the tougher things. She has a really even tone to her, very balanced, which is really important in this line of work.”
When she’s not working, Amy and her five children go fishing, play video games, and spend time outdoors. She also enjoys crocheting, playing with her two dogs, and taking care of her turtle.
Thank you, Amy, for all you do!
We feature staff as part of our monthly Stellar Staff Spotlight. The spotlight rotates between programs (Children’s Mental Health, Early Learning, and Senior & Disability Services), and between Ketchikan and Prince of Wales, with a focus on recognizing direct service staff.
