Stellar Staff – Guill

Guill works with adults with developmental disabilities. He's known to be a great team player, and to advocate for his customer's needs. Thanks Guill!

Guill calls himself the Gypsy Guy.

“I’m always moving from one place to another. My parents used to travel a lot.”

But he might finally be able to call Ketchikan home. He says this is one of the longest times he’s stayed in one place.

Guill King has wanted to move to Alaska for years, and finally came here about eight years ago. He’s been working at Community Connections for almost six years.

Guill works with adults with developmental disabilities: guiding, showing right and wrong, and helping them reach their life goals. He had never worked with people with disabilities before, but he says it’s similar to when he used to take care of his family.

“It’s like going back in time and taking care of my own kids,” he says.

Guill is a team player, and does whatever it takes to get the job done.

“He always communicates the customer’s needs. He’s a good advocate for them,” says Glen Fazakerly, one of the residential coordinators at Community Connections. “He works hard at doing things right.”

In his free time, Guill watches movies and likes going to the rec center.

Thanks for all that you do, Guill! We’re glad to have you on the team.

We feature staff as part of our monthly Stellar Staff Spotlight. The spotlight rotates between programs (Children’s Mental Health, Early Learning, and Senior & Disability Services), and between Ketchikan and Prince of Wales, with a focus on recognizing direct service staff.
