Stellar Staff – Jack

Jack coordinates support services for families and children in Ketchikan.

You may have heard of him…. Jack from Australia!

Jack found out about Community Connections from his girlfriend, and moved to Ketchikan from Australia last December. He has been working in our Children’s Mental Health department as a Service Coordinator. His favorite part of the job is seeing kids succeed.

“It’s a job where a lot of the time, success comes in small steps,” he says. “So anytime I feel like I’ve helped someone out, either a family or a child, that means we’ve done our job.”

He says sometimes it’s hard to hear about the trauma that some kids have been through.

“But the fact that they still walk up to our building, and with a smile on their face, it shows you what sort of spirit they have … where they’re still ready to have another crack at things even though they’ve been through so much.”

We’re glad to have Jack on the team. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, fly fishing, and exploring the out of doors.

Thanks Jack, for all that you do!

We feature staff as part of our monthly Stellar Staff Spotlight. The spotlight rotates between programs (Children’s Mental Health, Early Learning, and Senior & Disability Services), and between Ketchikan and Prince of Wales, with a focus on recognizing direct service staff.
