Stellar Staff January – Angelina

Angelina “Angel” Stockton has been with Community Connections as a Support Specialist with our Senior & Disability Services Program since March 2015.

She was initially introduced to the care-giving field of work when her grandmother worked in the same field and would sometimes take Angel with her. This was where she developed her love for this field of work! When Angel’s daughter was 5 years old, she heard about a business similar to Community Connections which allowed her to take care of her mom for 19 years then move on to caring for her aunt.

Angel says that the part of her job as a Support Specialist that she enjoys the most is when her client is happy and when she sees a smile on their face, it makes her glad thatshe is there to help.

The part of her job that challenges her is when she is caring for her family members. She says, “Sometimes they try to take advantage of me, but then I just show them the paperwork and it reminds them of the way things work. This helps take the pressure off of me.”

When Angel isn’t assisting one of her customers, she enjoys spending her free time with her kids and grandchildren. She and her husband have a blended family of 5 kids, 6 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren.

She is originally from Klawock which is where her mother is also from. Her family moved to Ketchikan when she was in 4th grade and she stayed there until her freshman year in high school then
moved back to Klawock where she finished out her remaining years of high school.

She goes by Angelina or Angel, but her clients think of her as an angel and she still keeps in contact with some of her past customers.

Her supervisor says, “Angelina, or Angel as we call her, is a very pleasant lady to work with. She has a big heart and has the best interest of her customers, as well as all elders, at heart. She is reliable, personable and easy to get along with. She has an extended family on POW and is very well known and loved. We are lucky to have her on our team and I appreciate all she does!

Thank you, Angel, for all you do for Community Connections and the customers we serve!
