Kim first joined Community Connections almost ten years ago and started out as a support specialist, coaching and guiding children with behavioral or mental health challenges. Now Kim is a service coordinator, working with kids and families in our Children’s Mental Health department in Ketchikan.
“I enjoy being a part of their growth,” she says. “It can be challenging to gain trust at first, but once you find common ground then it gets easier.”
Max Mercer (the department director) says Kim is extremely focused and organized at work.
“She’s willing to step in and handle situations on behalf of her coworkers without skipping a beat.”
Kim grew up in Ketchikan, moved to Prince of Wales for a while, and then came back. She has five children of her own, and when she’s not working at Community Connections, she’s spending time with her family. They go to the beach a lot, to beachcomb and paint rocks, and also enjoy working on puzzles.
Thanks Kim for your hard work. Glad to have you on the team!
We feature staff as part of our monthly Stellar Staff Spotlight. The spotlight rotates between programs (Children’s Mental Health, Early Learning, and Senior & Disability Services), and between Ketchikan and Prince of Wales, with a focus on recognizing direct service staff.
