Stellar Staff November

Stellar Staff – Lexi & Tia

Meet "The Billing Sisters", Lexi and Tia, who support the Children's Mental Health program here.

“Do you get tired of each other?” people ask.

“We never do. I get the opportunity to work with my sister and best friend every single day,” says Lexi.

Tia and Lexi Collins support the Children’s Mental Health program in Ketchikan. They work with coding and billing, and specialized software like AKAIMS and SAMS.

Associate Director Max Mercer has high praise for their work, and notes that they have developed their own systems for getting new tasks done, and have taken on many new responsibilities as their job functions change.

“We’ve just been picking up everything as we go,” says Lexi. “Ninety percent of it is new to me.”

Though they don’t work directly with clients, the sisters love being in the Children’s Mental Health program and getting to know all the kids.

“Even though we’re billing, it’s still a good spot to be. The kids make our day go by quicker.”

In their free time, they enjoy hanging out with their family, and walking on beaches with their dogs, a pug and Chihuahua.

“We end up carrying them,” they laugh.

We feature staff as part of our monthly Stellar Staff Spotlight. The spotlight rotates between programs (Children’s Mental Health, Early Learning, and Senior & Disability Services), and between Ketchikan and Prince of Wales, with a focus on recognizing direct service staff.
