Stellar Staff – Roy

Roy supports elders with disabilities on Prince of Wales Island.

I just like trying to cheer people up,” says Roy. “Sometimes they’re grumpy. So I’ll be cheery, and sometimes it cheers them up too.”

Roy supports several elders with disabilities in Klawock, on Prince of Wales Island. He helps them mostly with personal care.

Roy is outstanding,” says Tammy Richter, who oversees Senior & Disability Services for Prince of Wales. “He’s always going above and beyond for our customers.”

Roy has lived on Prince of Wales Island for 35 years.

I love this place,” he says.

Roy used to be a forester, and is also an Army veteran. Since he retired, he’s held many different jobs. He joined Community Connections about two and a half years ago.

He spends time fishing (in streams), hiking, and hunting (only because the meat is delicious, he says!)

Thanks for all that you do, Roy!

We feature staff as part of our monthly Stellar Staff Spotlight. The spotlight rotates between programs (Children’s Mental Health, Early Learning, and Senior & Disability Services), and between Ketchikan and Prince of Wales, with a focus on recognizing direct service staff.
